Fall was a slow season for reading as I was doing so much other stuff and I didn’t have a a vacation to laze around and read. Winter wasn’t super fab either. But honestly….I’m proud of what I did read and was able to check off my list! I am joining Sam for WWW.

These books were all on my 2018 Fall TBR. I read two of them in the fall and one of them in the winter.

Recently Finished!

Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane – I read the book and then watched the movie about a month later. I think it might’ve been the first movie that was extremely similar to the book and didn’t disappoint! I really enjoyed this book as I love prison stories and stories about the brain and how it does the crazy things that it can.

Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson – This book kept me questioning what actually happened originally. Excellently written and I didn’t see it ending the way it did!

All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda – She wrote this book from ending to beginning and I have never read a book like that before. It was unique and took me a little bit to get used to it, but I really enjoyed it! I loved the way the book ended. It made me so very happy.

Currently Reading!

I was given a copy of C.S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters for Christmas and so I am reading that right now!

Coming Up!

I’ve been missing my classics…so my plan is to read a couple off that list. To get me through the rest of winter I’m thinking 20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Diary of Anne Frank, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich.

What’s your WWW this January?

Here is the rest of what I read over this summer and the little bit of what I’ve read so far this fall! I am joining Sam for WWW.

Recently Finished!

The Shack by William Paul Young – I have heard rave reviews about this book, but honestly…it didn’t really do it for me. It was fairly heretical in my opinion.

The Life She Was Given by Ellen Marie Wiseman – So. many. twists. that I never saw coming!! It had many similarities to other circus books I have read before, but it didn’t feel like a rewrite of them. It was excellent and horrifying all at the same time!!! I highly, highly recommend it!! (similar suggestions are accepted!)

The Woman in Cabin Ten by Ruth Ware – I enjoyed this book, but I thought it was awfully similar (and not the better version) to Girl on the Train. So that was honestly a disappointment. But! I did enjoy the twist at the end!! I didn’t see that coming and that made up for it in my opinion.

Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Patterson – So I knew that there were many sad feelings surrounding this book, but I didn’t know why. Once I started reading the book….I still didn’t know why it was sad because it seemed to be a lovely book for Jess and Leslie. Then….I figured it out and I wanted to cry at 11:00 at night while I was reading this. Such a good book!

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett – I listened to the audiobook and it’s was quite good!! I read a shortened kid’s version when I was younger, so there are bits and pieces that I remembered, but most of it was new to me. I thought it was a delightfully fresh read!

Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie – I’ve watched the movie and seen the play, but I’ve never read the book! I’m listening to it through my LibriVox app and this is the first one I’ve chosen a book where there’s a narrator and each character has its own reader. So that’s been unique for me! It was an excellent read…err listen haha I really do love the story of Peter Pan!

The Silent Wife by A.S.A Harrison – I just started this last week and I’m already done with it!! It was a quick read compared to the classics I’m used to reading, so that was a nice break!

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen – I had started reading this book earlier in March, but I couldn’t get through it! I found it on Spotify and decided maybe listening to it would work easier! It was in the aspect that I was able to finish it! But I was still a little fuzzy on things the whole time.

Currently Reading!

Nana by Emile Zola – I picked this book solely because it was an author who’s last name started with a Z and I need that for my A-Z Author challenge! I decided to stop reading it for now because it’s taking me so dang long, but I may come back to it sometime and read a little more!

Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane – I just started this book on Friday and so I’m not that far into it!

The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins – I started listening to this about a week and a half ago! It’s a long story, about 25 hours, but the story is good so far! I’m thinking it’s going to start picking up soon!

Coming Up!

Any one of these books on my Fall TBR are coming up next! Just depends on what the library has available when I go in. The nice thing is that the library does have all of these books, so it’s just a matter of someone else not having them checked out!
